We look for companies that lift women up and change lives. Each piece of handmade jewelry and ethical clothing has a powerful story. Then we give to local non-profits that help women — helping women here and there.
After over 10 years in business, we have built a great community of local women change makers, given over $60,000 to our local non-profit partners and purchased $1.5 million with our global partners.
Smart Glass Jewelry is an artist's studio based out of Atlanta, Georgia specializing in upcycling post-consumer glass bottles into wearable, beautiful jewelry. Smart Glass Jewelry reclaims glass beer, wine, saki, vodka, soda and gin bottles to create their colorful and sustainable designs. Every piece begins with a discarded glass bottle. A real piece of trash transformed it into gorgeous, sustainable jewelry. Upcycling doesn't involve the breakdown of items to their base materials. Instead, it uses items just as they are in their present state to create a completely new item. They retain the essence of each type of glass- the original shape, color, and size - throughout the process. Although radically transformed from its bottle-ness, they love keeping the vessel’s original story present through to the wearer.
Once sorted, the glass bottles are cut and fired, using a patented process, to create unique glass pieces. They use a variety of techniques to alter the finished shape and texture of the glass, such as a seaglass-style matte finish or a wavy contour.
It’s a bit of alchemy that transforms a piece of trash into such a thing of beauty. And it’s why they get a small thrill with every bottle they touch.
